The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Tuesday opened higher by over 42 points on buying by funds in fundamentally strong shares. The 30-share index rose by 42.38 points to 18,451.73 points in the first five minutes of trading.
Similarly, the wide-based National stock Exchange Nifty index inched up by 3.75 points to 5,547.25 points. Brokers said investors and funds were buying heavyweight stocks available at attractive lower levels.
